The Journey
The new Center for Arts and Learning in Montpelier at 46 Barre Street is a consortium of several non-profit organizations that are devoted to maintaining a thriving music and art education community in central Vermont. The participating organizations formed a non-profit umbrella organization which purchased the building at 46 Barre Street, previously St. Michael's School and convent. Spurred on by the initiative of community leaders, Paul and Peggy Irons, the new arts consortium has initiated a fundraising campaign to raise money for accessibility renovations. CAL is the recipient of a 2016 Vermont State tax credit which will help in these fundraising efforts.
There has never been a better opportunity to support the arts and education in central Vermont and to give these important institutions a firm foundation and the security of a permanent home. Building Community one collaboration at a time.
CAL’s Mission
The Center for Arts and Learning is committed to enhancing the cultural life of central Vermont through its founding member organizations, as well as embracing individual artists, musicians and other nonprofits in a collaborative and welcoming community.
